I wanted a good excuse to include my favorite song in a mix, so I went on the hunt for other songs. Koze Kuse is an all-time great track, go argue with your ancestors! It takes me back to the days when I would hang out with my friend Sthembiso and get up to trouble in 2014/15.
For Ol’ Chap’s birthday, I was responsible for making it an unforgettable experience by playing the songs he loves most. Every now and then, I take a stroll down memory lane. It helps me recall the times when I was an avid Pantsula who wore Dickies & All Stars every weekend. Even though things have changed in life, sometimes the classic music brings back fond memories of what could have been.
During 2021 I was a frequent performer at Kofifi Cafe, and my last performance there was a special one. The guests asked me to take them on a trip down memory lane playing Daddycue old school house style. It was an unforgettable moment!
Don’t you just hate it when the DJ mixes the song before your favourite part of the song? Well I do to. So these song play right up until the end, these are extended plays too, some songs play for 8 minutes without interruptions.
I did this mix for the afternoon drive time. They said it was too long, they will play it over 2 days 🙂 they enjoyed the music but there was no traffic generated from having my mix played on the radio. I don’t know what the ROI is on radio mixes.
I absolutely love this mix. The progress done by Mzansi producers to make music that is world class. In fact the first time I heard Cardiac Invasion I thought it was done by an international dj, is top studios. This is my thank you speech to you Mzansi Soulful House.
We really did try new sounds and lounge music for the patrons. They kept asking why we are playing weird music. So we stopped, back to regular programming.
